Yuzu-Furo — Citrus Solstice Bath
The Japanese winter solstice bath — yuzu fruit floating in hot water. A sister thermal ritual to the Anatolian hammam.

Stimulates circulation, builds skin's cold-tolerance, traditionally taken at winter solstice (tōji) as protection against the coming cold months.
Where it comes from
The Yuzu-Furo on winter solstice is documented in Japanese practice since the eighteenth century but draws on much older thermal-bath traditions. Anatolian hammam, Roman thermae, Japanese sentō and onsen — all instances of the same human instinct to use warm water as preparation for cold.
