Helichrysum stoechas

Everlasting · Immortelle · Italienische Strohblume · Immortelle · Altın otu

Region Aegean coast, Bodrum peninsula
Use Skin · Healing

The everlasting — its dried flowers hold their colour for years, and so does its skin-restoring action.

Helichrysum stoechas — altın otu — grows on the rocky Aegean coast of Türkiye, from the Bodrum peninsula to the Datça shore. The flower dries without losing its yellow.

On the skin, the essential oil is remarkable for its skin-restoring action — gently anti-inflammatory, useful on bruises, blemishes, and post-sun skin. The Anatolian household has used it for centuries on the body's surface, often in olive-oil maceration.

Properties: skin-restoring, anti-inflammatory, gently aromatic. Traditional uses: skin oil, post-bruise balm, evening face oil.
